Bike Racks for Municipalities

Two-space bike racks built for municipal streets, each matched to a bench family. About bike racks for municipalities

Five two-space racks are tagged for municipal use, and each is drawn to match a bench so a street holds together. The Urban Form 2 Space Bike Rack takes its angle from the Urban Form bench backrest and stands in a 10.5 by 3 inch footprint. The Koble 2 Space Bike Rack is the lightest at 13 lb and coordinates with the Koble benches. The Beselt 2 Space Bike Rack bolts down and is built to be lifted out and relocated between seasons.

The Classic 2 Space Bike Rack is a European hoop, 44.5 inches tall, with two independent fastening points so each bike locks on its own support. The Turisno 2 Space Bike Rack is a V that accepts bikes at different heights, with recycled plastic lumber slats flanking the centre span so the frame rests on plastic rather than metal. The Urban Form and Beselt racks carry the same slats, with cedar, Accoya or bamboo as an option on the Beselt and Turisno.

Every rack is marine-grade aluminum with stainless steel hardware and a super-durable powder coat in any RAL colour, so a municipality can hold one colour across its benches and racks.

Wishbone supplied the City of Campbell River all the furnishings last fall for an upgraded stretch of the South Island HWY south of Campbell River. Furnishings included bike racks, picnic tables, benches and our new single seat JEM lounge chairs. Trina is the Parks Technician for the City of Campbell River and she recently gave us these comments regarding the JEM Lounge Chairs we supplied on the project. Thank you to Wishbone for the JEM chairs. They are really comfortable, look terrific and the colours are perfect for the oceanside site. The chair blends the hues of driftwood and ocean and is a perfect complement to our branded City ‘blue’. Sitting in these chairs, placed as close to the beach as possible, is a magical experience. Imagine…a cup of coffee, and easy chair and a view that is out of this world!

We are very pleased with the curb stops...they are a fantastic product. I used 60 of them to define a few parking areas in our industrial park area, Warren is using his at our community arena parking lot, and Dougal has used the majority of his to create a parking lot near the train station.

My husband and I were taking a walk in North Vancouver and I decided to stop for a quick rest on a city bench. Once I sat down I immediately told my husband “You’ve got to try this!”. It was the most comfortable bench I’d ever sat on. I noticed a product tag on another bench further on down Capilano Road, and wrote down the phone number. From there I contacted Wishbone and received a quick response and pricing for the identical all-metal “Mountain Classic” bench. Fast forward to the completion date and Wishbone even delivered the bench (including going down some tricky stairs!). Thanks for providing such excellent service and an amazing product!

Questions

How much sidewalk does a rack take?

The Urban Form 2 Space Bike Rack stands in a 10.5 by 3 inch footprint and the Koble 2 Space Bike Rack in about 12 inches. Heights run from 35 to 44.5 inches across the five racks.

How are municipal racks installed?

The Beselt 2 Space Bike Rack is a bolt-down installation designed to be relocated seasonally. Weights run from 13 lb for the Koble rack to 52 lb for the Beselt.

Do the racks protect the bike's paint?

The Urban Form, Beselt and Turisno racks carry recycled plastic lumber slats where the frame rests, so the bike leans on plastic rather than bare metal. Cedar, Accoya or bamboo can replace the plastic on the Beselt and Turisno racks.

Can the colour match existing furniture?

Yes. Each rack takes a super-durable powder coat in any RAL colour, and the Urban Form, Koble and Beselt racks are drawn to match their bench collections.
