About leaning benches for transit and streets
A leaning bench is a rail to lean against, set at 36 inches, for a wait measured in minutes. It suits a transit platform, a retail corridor or a wayfinding pause where a full-depth bench would block the flow, since the whole unit is only 9 or 10 inches deep.
There are three. The Parker Leaning Bench 5ft is 63 inches long on a fully welded marine-grade aluminum frame, with a choice of recycled plastic or all-metal backrest. The Parker Aluminum Leaning Bench 5ft is the all-metal version and weighs 21 pounds. The Rutherford Leaning Bench 5ft is 60 inches long, 23 pounds, and carries 100% recycled plastic slats to match the rest of the Rutherford family.
Both families are built to length, from 2 feet to 10 feet, so a run can be cut to a platform edge. Frames are super-durable powder coated with stainless steel hardware. The recycled plastic slats never need paint, and the all-aluminum version is the lightest of the three.
