Diversion happens in three places: at the bin, in the truck, and at the facility. The bin is the only one a furniture manufacturer touches, and it is the one that fails first when the other two are not there. A three-stream station on a site with two-stream collection is a single bin with three lids and a contaminated organics slot.
Why two streams is the honest default
Two-stream stations outsell three-stream in our orders by nine to one. That is not a failure of ambition. It is parks departments specifying what their collection actually supports. The sites that order three streams, hospitals with cafeterias and campuses with dining, are the ones with a third truck.
What the station itself contributes
Clear labelling at the opening, because sorting happens at the point of use or not at all. A body that survives being emptied twice a day for a decade. And, on the stations we ship most, a curved top that sheds rain and snow so the openings stay usable in January. The furniture's job is to make the right action the easy one. The truck does the rest.
