Reclaimed steel and the aluminum question

Every bench is half lumber and half frame. The lumber gets the attention. The frame is reclaimed steel or aluminum, and it has its own story.

Eight feet: gone from benches, growing in tables

The eight-foot bench has almost vanished from our orders. The eight-foot picnic table has quadrupled. Same length, opposite directions, and the reason is who sits there.

Why the six-foot bench won

Of every bench we have shipped since 2018, eight in ten were six feet long. That is not a coincidence, and it is not a default either.

Surface mount or in-ground: surface won

Four in five of our installations bolt to a finished surface. That share has grown every year, and the reason is not what most people assume.

No stain, no sealant, no spring

The environmental cost of a wooden bench is not mainly the tree. It is the can of stain every spring for twenty years, and the crew day that goes with it.

The memorial bench

Every year since 2019 we have shipped bronze plaques, and every year someone has asked us to engrave a name. This is the part of the business that is never about furniture.

Recycled plastic, aluminum, or wood

We make furniture in all three. Here is what actually gets chosen, and what the choice usually comes down to.

Five feet or six: six is still gaining

The six-foot bench was two thirds of our bench sales in 2019. It is five sixths now. The five-footer is shrinking, and it is worth knowing why before you specify one.

Lighting built into the bench

City Lights: 24-volt LED under the seat, in warm white or any colour you like
